Irvine, Tustin, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, and the canyon communities have the yards, HOA clubhouses, and planned-community patios that fit a teppan station. We also cook in Newport Beach and Laguna when the site has a legal, level pad and the host has checked community rules.

HOAs and coastal rules

Many OC neighborhoods have tighter outdoor-cooking rules than people expect. If you live in a gated community, send the CC&Rs or a photo of the posted grill policy. We would rather redesign the station than show up and get shut down by a manager. Coastal sites can add wind. We use screens and a heavier cart when the forecast says so.

Graduation weeks, youth sports banquets at a house, and company dinners near the Spectrum or South Coast Plaza office clusters all fit. For larger guest lists we run two seatings so the backyard does not turn into a cafeteria.
